Among individual objects of special interest are the British bronze shields in Wall Cases 32 and 33, the Find, from Taplow (50), and the Irish crozier (53 and 54). In the Floor Cases are Jewellery (note copy of the Alfred jewel, in Table Case D), combs, rings, etc. In the centre, Casket of whalebone, carved with legendary scenes and Anglo-Saxon runes, made in Northumbria about 700 A.D. At the ends are two stones with 'Ogham' inscriptions, from Wales and Ireland. The room to the west of this gallery contains the Maudslay collection of casts of Maya Sculpture (1st-12th century) from Central America.
