Alcázar de los Reyes Cristianos

The "Castle of the Christian Kings" (Alcázar de los Reyes Cristianos) has what is now called a 'Moorish' or 'Islamic' garden. The castle, which was also a palace (like the Red Fort in Agra) and other Mughal gardens, is medieval. The Alcazar and is situated on the northern bank of the Guadalquivir River. This provided good views and, in stressful times, a supply route and/or means of escape.

Cordoba also has a Mosque-Cathedral. 'Christian' and 'Muslim' garden design, like the two faiths, have an enormous shared heritage coming from the classical world. It included courtyards and rectangular pools.
