Clermont Historic Garden

Seven generations of the Livingstone family lived here. A Georgian house was built 1730-1750, though it was burned during the War of Independence. It has views over the Hudson River to the Catskill Mountains Clermont derives from 'clear mountain'. The present gardens were made in the 1920s and 1930s, after Alice Livingston's European tours. There is an Italian staircase, a walled garden and Arts and Crafts planting.
