An early eighteenth century castle with a baroque garden. The castle stands at the centre of a semi-circular garden from which seven alleys radiate into the surrounding woodland. Gothein describes the house and garden as 'the best in Denmark' and makes a comparison with the radiating avenues at Hampton Court, in London. Fredensborg castle stands on a hill and overlooks a lake. There is an Italianate Marble Garden. A woodland garden was added in the nineteenth century.
