Government House (c1845) is the most sophisticated example of a Gothic Revival building in New South Wales. Unlike most other surviving colonial houses in Sydney, it has retained its setting and most importantly, its relationship to the harbour. Situated high on harbour headland within the stunning Royal Botanic Gardens, the extensive grounds feature native and exotic plants set against formal lawns and majestic Morten Bay Figs. Government House is managed by the Historic Houses Trust.
