A Victorian gothic house, by John Loughborough Pearson, with a garden made by a gardening author who was well-known in the 1970s: Edward Hyams. He was an avid plant collector and describes the garden in his book An Englishman's Garden. The garden is now run in conjunction with a nursery. It's style is Arts and Crafts and, judging from his literary work, it is likely that he knew of the style's renaissance origins.
