Kelmscott Manor Garden

A sixteenth century house with an Arts and Crafts garden. If John Ruskin was the Arts and Crafts Movement's grandfather then William Morris was its father. Morris used Kelmscott as a country cottage from 1871-1896. It has a simple well-made 'Old English' garden, as befits the great opponent of Victorian eclecticism and Mixed Style Victorian garden design. The planting at Kelmscott Manor has been restored, with well-chosen plants. Kelmscott is the birth place of Arts and Crafts garden style. See history of the Arts and Crafts style in England.
