Mitchell Park Conservatory (The Domes)

The Mitchell Park Conservatory consists of three conoidal (cone shaped) domes - The Floral Show Dome, The Tropical Dome and The Arid Dome.  They are affectionately referred to as "The Domes".  The original conservatory in Mitchell Park was found to be unsafe in 1955 and was demolished.  Donald Grieb won the design competition for a new conservatory and the construction of the 140 by 85 foot domes began in 1959.
