Peradeniya Botanic Gardens

Paradeniya or Peradeniya Royal Botanic Gardens were formerly the king's pleasure garden, 6km south of Kandy. They are in a loop in the River Mahaweli Ganga. There is an avenue of coconut palm trees, a spice garden, giant bamboos, rubber trees, an orchard collection and a giant Javan fig tree which covers 1600 sq metres.
