Raby Castle Gardens

A dramatic fourteenth century castle with a serpentine deer park and a lake. Modernised in the nineteenth century, the castle stands like a vast gothic folly in the park. The terraced and walled gardens (separated from the house) are well planted. Historically, it may have had a medieval herber near the castle (instead of a carriage drive and parade ground).
