The Weald and Downland has a collection of historic buildings, re-assembled, and some of the medieval buildings have re-created medieval gardens. The Museum has six period gardens dating from the early 16th century to the late 19th century. The size of the medieval garden beds and the plants grown in them are authentic. There is more doubt about the use of grass paths and wattle fences.
