James Corner was born in the UK and received a degree in landscape architecture from Manchester Metropolitan University in 1983 and a Master's Degree in Landscape Architecture and Urban Design Certificate from the University of Pennsylvania in 1986. He worked for Wallace, Roberts and Todd, Richard Rogers and Partners and William Gillespie and Partners (on the Liverpool International Garden Festival) He is now the principal of James Corner Field Operations and is a leading advocate of landscape urbanism - an approach which emphasises process instead of any particular design style.
