Built in 1929, Adamson House has a brilliant beachfront location overlooking the Malibu Lagoon. It is known for its extensive use of ceramic tiles from the Malibu Potteries. The distinctive starpool is visible on the satellite image if you zoom in on the location map below. The architectural style is sometimes described as 'Spanish Colonial Revival'. The garden design style can be described as 'Spanish Arts and Crafts'. It makes use of traditions, like the use of tiles (inspired by Islamic designs), but is also forward-looking, technically, socially and geometrically. The use of tiles (azulejos) in gardens is more Portuguese than Spanish.
