Though destroyed in 1860, the Jichang garden has been reconstructed. It is small but uses the principle of 'borrowed landscape' (jie jing) to increase its apparent extent, by drawing on larger Xihui Park in which it is set. The nearby Dragon Light (Longguang) pagoda allows extensive views. The Stream of the Octave emits a musical bubbling sound. The margin of the pool is very rocky and one side of the garden is enclosed by a roofed walk (lang) with a white wall.
