Pendle Heritage Centre Garden

A restored walled garden in a group of listed buildings. The garden was made in the 1780s and has been replanted using plants available at that time. The gravel paths are edged with box. There is a Garden Museum in an old potting shed with video and collection of antique garden tools and equipment and a Woodland Walk.

History

The Garden at the rear of Park Hill was developed at the same time as the Georgian extension and was constructed with high brick lined walls to create a micro climate to help the cultivation of plants. The Trust has restored the garden to its original late 18th C design and contains plants that were common in that period.
